Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station is one of the most efficient coal fired power stations operated by Uniper at Ratcliffe-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire, England. Commissioned in 1968 by the then Central Electricity Generating Board, the station has a total generating capacity of 2,116 MW, which is enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 2.02 million homes.
Each unit operates via a hard wired partially integrated control based around CUTLASS and PLC applications. The majority of the Operator Interface facilities are still centred on hard desk controls and indications.
Incontrol Limited was to install the new Soft Desk DCS Operator interface to replace the existing ‘hard desk’ controls and this specification details the works required to facilitate the removal and replacement of these controls as well as the rationalisation to CUTLASS Control System target wiring; upgrading of exiting dampers; installation of cables and cable management systems and improvements to the instrument power distribution systems.
